Travel season is upon us and everyone is looking for fun things to do at an affordable cost.

In honor of  Military Appreciation Month and Armed Forces Week The Department of Interior and the Joint Forces Initiative have announced that starting this Saturday (Armed Forces Day) Active Duty Service Members and their families can now enter more then 2000 national parks at no cost.

According to the Los Angeles Times:

“The America the Beautiful pass, also known as the National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass, is good for 12 months and usually costs $80 each. Members of the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard and National Guard (as well as reserves) may pick up the free pass at national park lands that sell them”.

You can visit the official National Park sites and get answers to military related pass questions here.
