I bet that title got you whether you want to admit it or not hehe, but as crazy as it sounds is it true. If you’re a fan of the Food Network like me than I am pretty sure you have come across the show “Ace of Cakes” at one time or another. I am not even sure if it’s still on the air or not but it centers around head pastry chef Duff Goldman the owner of Charm City Cakes in Baltimore , Maryland and his crew of not so typical party artists. Most of them are not not experienced in anything culinary but are artists (sculptors, painters, etc) and use those skills to create extraordinary cakes.
In any event as I am doing my weekly walkthrough of Walmart I come across two new cakes from Duff’s new line of cake mixes called “Duff Essentials”. There are quite a few flavors but I am guessing because I am in the Fort Bragg area they thought it would only make sense to put these two flavors on display.
I was so excited to share with you guys because I know there are lots of homecomings happening not to mention one of the biggest patriotic holidays ever which is July 4th aka Independence Day. These would be perfect for those who are baking challenged like me and want to make a camo or stars and stripes themed cake or cupcakes. Using these cake mixes also creates novelty when sending items for a gathering to a military event.
Now you to can look like you are “Pinterest Worthy” LOL!
The pink camo cake above takes the “cake”. I have seen camo cakes but I never thought in a million years there would be a pink camo cake box mix made available to the public.
These cake mixes are low protein and have low gluten flour which according to a press release is just like the ones used in the bakeries. Each box also can make 24-30 cupcakes which is double what a normal size box of cake mix can do.
You can purchase these cake mixes at Walmart for $2.99 or at http://www.gartnerstudios.com/shop/baking-supplies/duff-essentials/cake-mixes .
