How much time have you and your spouse spent apart? Was he/she gone for training? For deployment? Were important milestones such as anniversaries or birthdays missed? What about holidays?
As military families, we aren’t strangers to being geographically dislocated. Fortunately, in this day and age, technology is on our side and it’s easier to stay connected if you have the right tools.
If you could guarantee that you were your sweetie’s waking thought, would you sign right up?
An Innovative App Adds A Personal Touch
We’ve all heard the expression that a voice can be “music to our ears.” With the new Trumpet App, you and your loved ones can easily stay connected with personalized voice messages that play when your loved one’s phone alarm goes off. (And it sure beats waking up to Reveille!)
It matters how you start your day, and when you aren’t able to roll over and kiss your favorite service member good morning, or have your kids jump on the bed to wake him or her up, Trumpet is your answer.
If you think about it, connecting with someone as you wake is a special and intimate moment. When Uncle Sam geographically separates you, why not stay connected with personalized voice greetings through the Trumpet alarm app?
How Does Trumpet Work?
Trumpet is a full-featured alarm that will play recorded messages, has multiple ringtones and a snooze option.
Military families can use Trumpet to send messages to your deployed or geographically dislocated service member. It’s perfect for birthdays, wedding anniversaries, or to just let them know that you’re thinking about them. The deployed member can send something to the family as well, such as words of encouragement to a child on their first day of school, when they lose a tooth, in preparation of a big game, or before their first school dance.
Just because we are geographically separated doesn’t mean we have to be disconnected.
Have Some Questions?
Unlike other messaging systems, the sender doesn’t control when the alarm rings. Your recipient will set their alarm, and if there is a message from you, they’ll hear it when their scheduled alarm sounds. Messages are played in the order they are sent.
Similar to Snapchat, the message is a surprise and will disappear after you’re done listening to it. Your recipient has the option to save a favorite message to listen to later.
You approve friend requests on Trumpet, so you’re in control of who sends you messages. And if your spouse is in close quarters, like the barracks, he or she can set the app to only play ringtones and listen to your message later.
Make Someone’s Day
Trumpet is a special way to connect as a military family, but you can also use it with friends, siblings, grandparents — you name it!
Trumpet is free to download for iPhone and Android. Right now they’re offering a promotional period where all capabilities are open for free. Messages you save during this period will remain after the promotion ends, even if you don’t go for the premium subscription. In general, the free version limits you to five (5) messages a month.
