I’ve been a military spouse for eight years. My family has moved frequently and my husband has done various tours of duty overseas. As challenging as deployments are we always try to look for the light at end of the tunnel. Our light at the end of that tunnel is knowing that when my spouse returns we are headed on vacation to spend some much needed family time.

In traveling I make sure to look for budget friendly options so that we can splurge elsewhere (food, souvenirs ). My family recently took a trip to Orlando, Florida in which we visited all the well known attractions there. We enjoyed various local cuisine as well as our fair share of chain options because everyone knows we purposely forget to monitor calories while vacationing. Because my kids are older they truly were able to enjoy the theme parks and spectacular shows that we were able to see. It was great to finally not have to take turns monitoring the stroller and riding on all the thrill rides together.

However after a long day one of the main things we knew we needed was comfort. My children are at the age where everyone having their own space is not a luxury but a necessity. It’s what keeps “the vacation” a vacation. I had booked our stay at the Best Western Orlando Gateway. We enjoyed the comforts of their studio suites which was extremely spacious and included all the comforts of home. After a long day of what equaled miles of walking, coming back to a clean spacious room was what we all needed. It also helped that this military family got to enjoy a suite without breaking our pockets, which isn’t always the easiest thing to do when planning a vacation.

Just For Military

As a military spouse lifestyle blogger I really enjoy finding hotels and attractions that offer military promotions. Our service members sacrifice and give so much of their time. In honor of Veteran’s Day tomorrow it’s a pleasure for me to remind our military personnel that Best Western has a special program just for them known as Best Western Service Rewards. With the BW Service Rewards program qualifying military personnel can not only save 10% when booking a stay at Best Western Hotels but earn 10 points  for every U.S. dollar spent. You can use these points for FREE stays and much more. You also get the honor of being upgraded (automatically) to Elite status when you join so earning points is much faster. Signing up is free and they will give you 250 FREE starter points just for doing so. You can learn more details at: http://www.bwmilitary.com.

24 Comments on Military Families Vacation With Best Western Service Rewards + GIVEAWAY!!!!

  1. My husband is deployed and hasn’t meet our 3 month old son yet! I would love to take our first family trip to somewhere with a beach when he returns. He loves snorkeling!

  2. My husband and I are hoping for a trip to Savannah, GA when he comes home. We have been working on rekindling our flame and this recent deployment helped to bring us closer in a lot of ways and Savannah is a beautiful town to spend time in as a couple.

  3. We love to go somewhere warm with a beach and relax! Just spending time together is priceless! I love my husband and daughter !

  4. My family and I really need a vacation closer to home so we can catch up with family and friends…Virginia or Florida would be AWESOME!

  5. We’re hoping to travel to Europe this year to see my baby sister! I’m crossing my fingers that John’s leave gets approved! :-)

  6. My family loves to have staycations where we rent a hotel room and just have fun together away from the house!

  7. We’d love to go back to San Diego! It’s our most favorite family vacation spot. We could use some sun after this polar vortex in CO!

  8. We love to go back home and visit family in Arizona Texas and California. Being away from them.for so long makes each visit so important and special.

  9. My husband and I have our first little one on the way and would love to get away to Savannah (what our daughter’s name will be if the baby is a girl) or we’d like to take a trip down to Myrtle Beach.

  10. Actually, it really wouldn’t matter where we would go, as I type this submission, my husband is on an unaccompanied tour. We’ve been married for three years and haven’t lived together for a whole year due to deployments, school and now an unaccompanied tour. He deployed two weeks after we married and upon his return, Uncle Sam has had different plans for him (smile). So when he returns in a few months, I really don’t mind if we go a few hours away to the beach here in NC or SC or travel along the east coast to spend some much needed time together and with family in GA, FL, NJ, PA or NY. Just as long as we are together….that will be more than enough.
