In the midst of all the reality shows and talks shows out there I the TV queen am always on the lookout for a good comedy. I love to laugh and in the military life who can’t use a good hearty, ugly ,boisterous, explosion of laughter every so often …right!
I recently received word that a new show called “Enlisted” is coming to the Fox channel starting January 10th. The show is set on a fictional Amy Base in Florida and centers around 3 brothers named Derrick, Randy and Pete who grew up Army brats. Albeit the case one doesn’t even like being in the Army, one loves being in the Army but is kind of the Gomer Pyle of the bunch ,and the other is the ideal soldier who does everything right. Two of the brothers are already stationed on this Army base in Florida. They are then joined by the ideal soldier brother who comes back after serving in Afghanistan and just so happens to be put in charge of the rear detachment unit that his brothers are in too.
The Hill brothers all serve in the Rear Detachment (Rear D) unit, comprised of the Soldiers left behind when everyone else is deployed, who mow lawns on post, sort mail, wash tanks and find lost dogs. But the Rear D’s main job is taking care of deployed Soldiers’ families. Whatever they need, the Rear D Soldiers do. It’s a job that shifts each moment from the thrilling to the mundane to the emotional and back again.
A military-set family comedy, ENLISTED centers on three brothers who, when the best of the best are sent overseas, stay behind to try to keep the post in order. Between clean-up duty at a parade, human-grease-bowling and assorted soldierly pranks, they will inadvertently discover the key to strengthening their long-lost childhood bonds.
It takes alot to make me laugh. As I said I love to laugh, but I am usually the person who someone will tell me how funny something is and then I go watch and it I am like “umm so where was the punchline”? Did I miss it? I have to say I had the chance to watch a few of the beginning episodes and from the start of the pilot episode I was laughing. Check out this scene below as the brothers welcome their ideal soldier brother home from war.
This is a workplace comedy for sure and it touches on all the taboos of military life as a soldier in a humorous way. And like with any military themed show or comedy there tends to be some technicalities that are incorrect such as the way the uniform is worn. Remember the first season of “Army Wives”? However, this one of the shows that the cast carries so well and while hilarious respect is still given to our men in and women who serve. I suggest watching with an open heart and a good drink on a Friday night!
Oh and speaking of goofs the “Enlisted” team wants you to get your pen and paper out on January 10th and right down all the incorrect things you see. Details in the video below:
Enlisted premieres Friday January 10th on your local Fox station at 9:30/8:30c . Watch more clips from Enlisted at http://www.fox.com/enlisted/

Saw this show on plane 28&29 Dec Was HILARIUS!
My husband is currently deployed in Afghanistan and as I am learning as we go, (still so much to learn and understand) I am NOT AT ALL offended by the humor or the technically wrong scenes of the show. Especially BECAUSE IT’S A COMEDY! A N D I am pretty sure that 3 grown men would not sign on to do a show that would ever disrespect our soldiers. It’s all in good fun! There is so much seriousness in being a family member of a soldier that has been deployed or currently serving overseas. It is nice to see a lighter side of The Army world. I am looking forward to watching it. Best of luck to the cast! =)
Como se dice “the cockroach” en espanol? “La Cucaracha”! Es la misma de “Kanckles,” verdad?
Hay que ver!
Its like you read my mind! You seem to know a lott about this,
like you wrote the book in it or something. I think that you could do with a few pics to drive the message home a bit,
but other than that, this is excellent blog.
Afantastic read. I will certainly be back.
An interesting discussion is definitely worth comment.
I think that you need to publish more on this subject
matter, it may not be a taboo matter but typically people don’t talk about such issues.
To the next! Cheers!!
