Everyone knows when you move in the military, everything is numbered with those dreadful stickies. They come in different colors . I don’t quite remember every color I have had but I do know my last two moves I had blue and yellow.

Last night as I was cleaning up my laundry room prepping for the new year I came across  one near the knobs of my washing machine.

pcsstickies

I debated on removing it but in my weird mind I decided against it because it told a story. That sticker wasn’t from my last move here to the Fort Bragg area but in fact was from our move to Hawaii. The Bragg sticker was apparently removed. It’s amazing how something so small can really hold a lot of memories and make you think of a time in the past.

I literally thought about how that washer had traveled on a boat across the Pacific or maybe by plane …but I am pretty sure by boat. I think we move so much that I almost start to think of my household items as people. They move just as much as we do , if not more. Or could it be I am a weirdo and over think things lol?

Over the years I have come across stickies under my couch, on dressers and elsewhere. Sometimes I have removed them and other times I have let them linger because they are hard to part with (IMO).

Do you keep your PCS stickies on some of your household goods and why?

  1. Lol, I don’t leave those thingies on my furniture because my type A personality can’t handle seeing them everywhere. I can see your point of view on why you’d want to keep them up, though. Sometimes it’s easy to get sentimental about things as a milspouse since we move so dang much ;)

  2. I am with you I leave some of them, it’s part of being in the military. When I go home and still find them hiding on my parents furniture it makes me laugh because my Dad retired 12 years ago. I am wired I like them they remind to not take things for granted where we live because it won’t be long and we will be living somewhere else.

  3. They always come out of no where from our first move 2 and a half years ago and our second move which was around 6 month ago. But then, I also still have some unpacked boxes from our last move!!!!

  4. My washer and dryer have all of their pcs stickers. I look at them & am not bothered at all by their history. I always remember my husband’s first duty station after we got married & the new (then lol) dryer my mom bought us there when I see those stickers. Fun post…thank you for the smile! :-)

  5. I have a hard time removing them sometimes. Ours were green from our local move, and of course almost all of our stuff had them from our last PCS because I hadn’t unpacked anything before the local move. I’m sure ill keep finding them for a long time! Lol.
