I know race is a very touchy taboo topic and frankly I hate talking about it because if a person’s mind is not open to at least trying to understand differences in something it can be hard to discuss. Not too long ago a military spouse asked about finding a place that does ethnic hair at her new duty station and while most were helpful many took it offensively.
As an African American woman who understands why she asked, I thought I could positively explain why you shouldn’t be offended ever again when you see this kind of question asked on any kind of military spouse forum.
