At the going rate rate of $11.00 per person to see a movie in your everyday movie theatre , the idea of paying $4.00 per person or less onpost seems very reasonable. Surprisingly I have found that many families onpost are not aware of the benefits of the onpost movie theatre or that they even have one. During my husband’s last deployment the onpost movie theatre was a favorite of ours. Yes, it’s true that we sacrificed  in certain areas such as waiting three extra weeks for a movie to come onpost and in the comfort area . With that said all three of us still went to the movies for the price of one. While the concession stand nachos and cheese at Schofield Barracks sent me to the bathroom puking my life out ( I swear I will never eat Nachos and Cheese from the movie theatres again) $2-$3 for a bag of popcorn sounds much more feasible.

Lastly always be on the lookout for freebies offered by the onpost theatre. When we were stationed at Schofield Barracks , the movie “Transformers” was being played at the same time it was released at offpost theatres for FREE! Tickets were being handed out at the PX. During the holiday season the theatre would showcase a holiday movie or two for free as well on the weekends.

If your not sure if your military installation has a movie theatre simply visit http://www.shopmyexchange.com/reeltimetheatres/reeltime-landing.htm and select your region. You can view the movies times for your post here as well.

Happy Movie Watching!

6 Comments on Does Your Base/Post Have an AAFES Movie Theatre?

  1. Ramstein is expensive you pay like you would go in a off post cinema in the states… but a lot has em cheaper. Hill AFB has even free movie nights which is so awsame but unfortuntly our little booger is too small to go yet :)

  2. Yes.. FE Warren (Cheyenne, WY) has a base theatre and offers Friday nite- PJ Nite- Kids Admission Free when in PJammas. Very cool. & sometimes you can use a coupon for a combo concession – the flyer at the BX usually carries the coupon on their movie list for the theater. :)
Not all the ‘newest’ movies play right away, but for those who need to catch up– its perfect!
Prices are a few bux cheaper than offbase– so it works out :)

  3. I’m not sure about Ft. Lee yet, but when we were at Ft. Rucker, it was $2 to get into the theatre (I was 17 at the time, though) and there was almost always a free weekend showing going on.

  4. I feel this is one of the so much important information for me.
