Military Spouse Short Stories
Get ready to dive into the first short story of our Base Beauties Saga: “Homefront Disappearances.” Join Sarah and Jessica, two military spouses, as they navigate the eerie and unsettling events unfolding in their tight-knit military community in Savannah, GA.
Part 1:
Sarah and Jessica had always found comfort in their tight-knit military community and each other, especially during deployments. This was their 2nd deployment together and they were happy to be neighbors and have someone to lean on when needed.
This time their husband’s deployments would last about 10 months which was a break from previous deployments that had lasted as long as 15 months. Both military spouses very much looked forward to R&R, when their hubbies got to come home to visit for about 2 weeks.
While they waited for that R&R, their days were spent running errands, taking kids to playdates, meeting for coffee, and Netlfixing and Chilling binging their favorite shows. Sarah and Jessica had pretty much created a routine that helped them get through deployments. They had also got pretty comfortable being home alone. While Sarah wasn’t really ever bothered being home alone, Jessica was always creeped out that they were stationed in Savannah, one of the most haunted cities in the country and it didn’t help they lived in older housing on base.
Little did Jessica know ghosts and hauntings were about to be the least of her worries.
As Jessica was folding clothes, Sunday mid-morning, her Facetime, rang on her phone. It was Sarah.
Sarah: Hey girl! OMG! What is going on near the playground down the street?
Jessica: What happened? What do you mean?
Sarah: On my way back from the commissary, I had to go the opposite way and come all the way around. There’s a Sh% load of police cars near the park. I stopped and asked one of the people outside what was happening and they said they are hearing that went of the spouses went missing last night.
Jessica: OMG…really! Well, why would they be by the park?
Sarah: I’m not sure, maybe they found something over there or are searching. But that’s scary!
Jessica: Well I hope they find her. The good thing is they said she is missing, not something worse. Maybe it’s just an isolated case. Maybe marriage issues or something and she took off. Did she have kids?
Sarah: Not sure! Don’t know who it is yet. The person I talked to was just some random standing out there, so who knows if they had their info right.
Jessica: Oh I see! Well, hopefully it’s not any thing crazy. I’m already freaking paranoid here half the time, I don’t need a real-life Lifetime movie made about me
Sarah and Jessica both cackled laughing and hung up, but they wouldn’t be laughing for long.
