The link to register on 8/31/11 is http://www.sears.com/heroesathome

or http://www.2011hahwishregistry.com/

For more updates visit The Army Wife 101 FB Fan Page

If you go before the scheduled time you will not see a form to fill out so please don’t be alarmed.

Update: I know there was some confusion because the Sears Heroes Facebook page listed the registration dates as September 10, 2011. Sears just confirmed on the page that date is indeed August 31,2011.

Screenshot from Sears FB Page:

You will be happy to know that I just received word that the Sears Heroes Wish Registry  is opening extremely early.

For those of you not familiar with this program you can learn more about it here.

When: Wednesday August 31, 2011 from 1pm-3pm CDT

Families who qualify can register and learn more at http://www.sears.com/heroesathome

This early time frame will allow families to register in time to enjoy their gift cards in time for the holiday season.

Those who wish to donate to the program can do so between September 4, 2011 through November 19, 2011.

Hopefully this year won’t be a recap of last year with ungrateful people complaining and I won’t have to do another video response like last year.

Thanks to Sears and all the grateful and supporting Sears customers who show their appreciation to our military by providing these donations.

  1. is this the website you would use to register? when I click on it it doesnt mention this years date just 2010. thank you for the heads up

  2. Thanks for the update. We never gotten to do this before, and Im really unsure on what to do. So I have been trying to keep up with everything I see about it! Thanks so much. Do we just register on the Sears sight that day?

  3. Thanks for the update! I would have missed it! Do you know what info we need on hand to sign up for it? I want to make sure I can do it while my husband is at work. Thanks :)

  4. Thank you for the update, the program helped us out so much last year I am so happy we got to do it. I was pretty surprised by the negative responses Sears received in general last year, I am grateful for any help I can get during the holidays. Thanks again and thank you Sears for the opportunity.

    • Shannon,
If you look at the comments at the Sears Facebook page under the “Heroes at Home” section… You can see “Caroline” states it again to another person who asked.

  5. This truly a wonderful program. For the poster who can’t believe anyone would be ungrateful, you should search for comments from last year. As an active duty Soldier of 23 years and still counting, I was quiet embarassed by some of the comments. It was as if people felt entitled to this gift of gratitude. I even read a few from people that blamed Sears for their children not being able to have a Christmas. The hint is, while this is a wonderful program, if you planned you Christmas budget on this money, then you might want to sign up for the next financial planning class and spend less money on your cell phone bills.

  6. We were overseas for ten years, so never did this before. Our last year or two I heard we *could* do the Sears thing, in theory, but there were so few things they would ship to an APO that it just wasn’t worth trying–let those who were Stateside have it. I’m a little disappointed that we couldn’t really do it, just like all the free park tickets and store discounts and etc. that were available to those inside the U.S.A. only. But I’m still really grateful and amazed at Sears and ALL these places for their wonderful support of the military, and both saddened and shocked that anyone would be ungrateful and snarky about it. Those ungrateful people need to be blackballed somehow from participating in future programs, imho. :( I’ll be trying to get in on this for the first time this year, and if I don’t make the cut then oh well I’m still very thankful for Sears’ efforts!! :)

  7. Thanks for all the reminders and links. Of course I miss read the time so off to play with our toddler til 1300 CDT :)

  8. I can’t way to fight thru all the Internet traffic as all of the stay at home wives who think they are entitled to something since there husbands are in the service.

  9. SHOOT! Accidently put in my information instead of my husbands (out of habit). Went back to put in his information and it said “invalid date” then closed 2 minutes later at 2:54 eastern time. BUMMER!

  10. I knew one of those ungrateful women last year. All she did was complain and she actually GOT the gift cards. She complained about the way the program was administered and also about the amount of money! I couldn’t believe it! When are people going to learn to recognize and appreciate kindness and be grateful that they were blessed enough to recieve such a selfless gift? People need to stop feeling such a sense of entitlement. I’ve been blessed enough to be accepted for Heroes at Home twice. My application was accepted again this year, but even if I don’t get it I’m thankful to sears for providing such an awesome opportunity for the families of our Nation’s servicemen/women who work and fight very hard and do jobs that these ungrateful family members would never concieve of doing themselves.

  11. I just found out about this program. Was 8/31/11 the only time to register for this ? When I go to the page it’s closed. Did I loose my chance at this by days ? I’m in the hospital : /

  12. I would just like to say that I love Sears for doing this. As a Army Wife and Soldier myself it is helpful. I missed out this year but its ok. My husband coming home on R&R for Christmas (hopefully) he’s the only gift my girls want. To anyone that is hating on Sears because you didn’t get in, take a hard look at your family, be happy your spouse is there because for some it will be a hard Christmas. Its not about the money. God Bless everyone. I am so glad I found this site.

  13. It’s a pity you don’t have a donate button! I’d certainly donate to this outstanding blog! I suppose for now i’ll settle for book-marking and adding your RSS feed to my Google account.
I look forward to new updates and will talk about this blog with my Facebook
    group. Chat soon!
