When my husband was deployed me and my friends were infamous for having ladies nights. A group of ladies would gather after the kids were sleep and stuff our face with everything from dips to bacon wrapped shrimp and yap yap yap. In the ladies night circle, majority ruled that hands down one of my best dishes was my Hot Crab Dip. I have simplified it below:
Ingredients
½ Onion
1 pack of cream cheese
1 pack of Kraft Italian Shredded Cheese
Various Seasonings ie: Garlic Powder, Onion Powder, Zatarain’s Creole Seasoning or Old Bay & Black Pepper
Hot Sauce
2 Cans Chicken of the Sea White Crab
Worcestershire Sauce ( I didn’t have any but it’s definitely a must have in the recipe)
Dice a ½ onion and sautee in olive oilSeason onions with all the seasoning mentioned in the ingredients list, then sautee onions until tenderAdd sauteed onions to softened cream cheese in a mixing bowlAdd canned crab meat & 1 cup of kraft italian cheeseAdd in seasonings from the ingredient list including Worcestershire sauce. I eyeball everything so season to your likingCombine all ingredients by stirring in the bowl this includes the hot sauce as well.Spread into casserole dishSprinkle more cheese on topPour a few more shakes of hotsauce on top as well as more pepperPlace in preheated oven and bake at 375 degrees for 25-30 min Yummm How's that for a hot dip...yeah I forgot to take the tag off my oven mitts...don't laugh!
Serve hot with tortilla chips or Pepperidge Farm Parmesan Bread...Enjoy!

8 Comments on Foodie Friday: Hot & Easy Cheesy Crab Dip
Yum! I’ll have to add this to my collection!! I make a cold crab and cream cheese dip, it’s also very popular at parties and super easy. You can use real crab meat, but for this I use imitation lump crab meat. (You could also substitute chopped ham for the crab, very yummy as well) So, all you need is:
1lb. crab meat. 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese.
16oz cream cheese. 1 bunch of green onions, chopped.
1/2 to 1 cup of mayonnaise. Lawry’s seasoning salt. (optional)
Club crackers, or any crackers you like.
Let the cream cheese sit out for a few minutes so it softens up a bit…this is hard to mix if its really cold. Chop the onions and crab meat. Mix all of ingredients together really well and add a little Lawry’s seasoning salt at a time to taste (optional, but IMO makes the dip so good) It’s ready to serve, or chill til ready to serve.
I just pulled it out the oven for the super bowel party…. its a hit already. Please put more recipes online. Your a hit in my world! Thank you so much.
