I’ve done posts before on shaving because it is mandatory in the military. The reason I have written about them here is because most of the time we (the wives) get stuck with purchasing the razors or better yet trying to find coupons to save on them because they can be costly.
Recently the people at Phillips gave my hubby the chance to try out the new Norelco Senso Touch 3D 1290x. My husband is on the road all the time, so shaving the traditional way and buying a million and one razors is not what works for him.
Key Things My Husband Loves About His New Razor
1. Currently my husband hasn’t charged his shaver in 2 weeks and he shaves once a day. The shaver also tells you how much battery you have left in the form of minutes.
2. He loves the dry/wet option because it allows him to still use shaving cream and get a close shave as if he was using a razor. In addition if he doesn’t enough time the dry option still gave him that close shave in the least amount of time possible.
3. The precision trimmer easily allowed him to shape his goatee right in the drivers seat of his truck.
4. He says he wishes he had this for those days when he was running late for PT and needed to shave. He recommends it for soldiers because it will give you that regulation clean cut without using a razor.
5. Easy cleaning is one of the last reasons hubby loved this. He stated he can simply open it up and run water on it to clean it out. Easy peezy!
6. Finally he loved the carrying case which had room for the shaver, cord, and the charger and is small enough to fit in his glove compartment.
While I (Krystel) can’t use the shaver I think it makes an excellent care package gift simply because of it’s convenience.
The SensoTouch 3D 1290x retails for $279.99 and while that may seem pricey, you pay more then that for razors in a year!

We try to steer clear of cheapie disposables so we get the “good” disposables lol and my hubby probably uses 2 of those per month. I’m sure he’d love one of these because its less waste and probably gets a better shave!
My soldier(husband) goes through so many razors that I stopped buying the expensive ones. Cheap Bic will have to do. Sorry for the razor bumps! RLTW.
Mine goes through about 10 a month.
My husband goes through 15 blades a month. They are too expensive!!
I know many many soldiers could use this and would be greatful to win! My husband would DEFINATELY be one of them. He is a man that has to shave multiple times a day becuase his hair grows that fast! Currently he uses a gillete fusion, and the replacement blades are not cheap! He goes through them like crazy!! He would be beyond greatful for this razor. Tha ks for all you do, and for the opportunity to win this!
Can’t buy the cheap ones it just cuts him up all the time. But he goes through a good bit. This would be a great gift and it would help him out a lot. Or any soldier for that matter!!
He goes through so many I lost count! He has sensitive skin too so he has to buy the expensive ones and thats a big dent in the budget!
1 razor every 3 days. 10 razors a month! Thats 20.00 in razors a month!
Woolly mammoth!
2 or 3 refill packs a month. Yikes!!
My hubby goes thur a new blade daily. He is a fast grower. Plus his face is sensitive due to all the shaving. This would be a great gift ;) so to answer the question, he goes thur about 30 to 35 blades a mouth.
My husband goes through about a razor every 2-3 months and refill blades about 2-3 a month at least. It gets so spendy. But he shaves everyday.
My husband is currently using an electric shaver at the moment because he got tired of buying a bag of disposable razors that only lasted 2 weeks. He grows hair like nobody’s business and he has tried everything. I would LOVE for him to win this because he works so hard and deserves to have something nice like this.
My hubby goes through at least 4-5 cartridges a month and it’s not cheap, he usually buys the expensive ones too! *sigh*
My husband goes through at least 2-3 refill packs a month.
Oh man.. my hubby uses a TON of razors! He has one of those where you have to replace the cartridges on it and we probably spend anywhere between $30-50 a month on replacements and heaven forbid the exchange runs out of them, which does happen here in Cuba!
How awesome!!! Looks so nifty and even has a carrying case! If only woman’s razors where this awesome hahaha
My husband uses two. I get him the 5 blade disposable with the gel strip. Yes, the girly ones! Haha
My husband goes through at least 2 lg packages per month … Doesn’t seem like a lot but they are EXPENSIVE ! Especially with sensitive skin .. Gillette are the only brand he uses ! Would love to say goodbye to buying blades !
I try not to count how many razors he uses. Twice a day. Expensive razors for sensitive skin. Never any coupons. I could just cry thinking about it!
My husband goes through about 5 razors a month.
I actually have no idea but I know every payday when I ask him what he needs from the commissary he says razors, lol.
My husband goes through 15-20 razors a month. And he says I’m expensive…pfft lol!
My husband uses the Gillette Fusion disposable razor blades. He goes through about 1-2 razor blades a week. If he uses them any more, his face gets a horrible rash. Sometimes he buys the 4 pack, sometimes the 6 pack. If he buys the 4, that adds up, because those run about $29 a box. The box of 6 is even worse.
My husband goes through 3-4 refill packs a month, sometimes more in the summer! He always breaks out from shaving but his hair grows so fast and is course so he shaves at least once a day!
Usually a pack of cheap disposable ones in a week and little better ones every two wEeks
My husband uses an electric razor, but it just doesn’t do the job. Would live to be able to give him this for Christmas!
My husband SHOULD shave twice a day.
He is in the Air Force and if he has to do anything work wise after 5:30- he has to RESHAVE! he could really use this! He goes through probably 2 cartridges a week… It has to say very sharp in order to look like he even attempted to shave!
He was such sensitive skin, that we go through at least one cartridge a week. I stalk the drug store for sales and hoard coupons, but they’re still so expensive!
My husband has to use clippers because is skin is so sensitive. The razors always cause him to breakout.
My husband goes through about 2-5 refills a month. He uses them until they are completely gone!
My soldier uses 1-2 a week. so 4-8 razors a month. I would love for him to win this razor!
My husband goes through a pack of razors a month. this would be an awesome gift to give him.
I feel like my husband goes through razors like crazy! I am constantly picking them up at the store for him!
My husband who’s in the army claims to go through about 3 per month. And he uses those expensive razor blades. >_<
My husband uses at least 6 a month but they cost $17 just for 4 razors! He would really love this :-)
My Son is stationed overseas and the razors are costly to his budget, he’s newly married and he uses about 18 razors a month. His beard grows fast and thick. The electric razors that he could afford didn’t last long and made him break out really bad but I’ve done alot of research on your razor and It was all good. This would be a great gift for a Soldier that has to stay away from his new wife and his family!
My husband goes through about 5 refill razor heads a month because he has to shave twice a day on most days. His facial hair grows really fast and his face is extremely sensitive so he can’t use any of the cheaper razors.
My husband goes through 6 razors a month. If he leaves it in the shower & it gets dull before I go buy new ones he uses mine! Annoying haha
My hubby uses 1-2 razors per month. That WOULD be awesome except the razors he uses are the most expensive ones at the PX….oh well!
Hubby goes through about $40 a month in blades. He uses the Gillette fusion cartridges. Having to shave once a day, gets expensive and he has to replace the blades quite often. This would help out tons!!!
My husband uses about two blades a month, but should probably switch them more often. He is very thrifty.
My husband has a hard time trying to find razors that won’t leave harsh bumps since he has sensitive skin, so he usually uses 10-12 disposable razors per month on average on his face alone! Then several more for his head for a total of about 15, I would say. Too many, in my book!
Well, my dad doesn’t exactly go through a lot. I just like buying him dad stuff. He passed away 5yrs ago but it makes me happy to get him stuff that I remember him using.
My husband has such thick facial hair he goes through a new razor every 2-3 days. I bed we buy 12+ a month! It is not cheap!
my husband goes through a ton of disposable razors.one every day!
My hubby has very sensitive skin so we don’t want to use razors to many times so he goes through probably 6-8 a month.
My hubby never takes a day off from shaving. Heck, most days he shaves twice! I buy a 6 pack of Mach 3 disposables every payday so each razor lasts him 2-3 days max. Even the sensitive ones break him out if he uses them more than a couple of times. This razor would save us a TON of money!
Probably about 7-10 a month. We’ve been looking at electric shavers but haven’t chosen one yet.
My husband gos thru two packs of razors in 2 Weeks, I can’t believe that men have to shave constantly just to keep there face in a decent way just for work! This would do him so much good to his face & possibly even save more time in his day.
My soldier goes through 5-6 cartridges a month. Sometimes more. It’s soooo expensive. :-/
What an incredible giveaway!!
My hubs uses four razors a month. He uses each one until it is completely dead, as he too is a shave daily kinda guy.
