Military Police are great. They serve and protect and for the most part have no problem with them . Well there was that time I got pulled on Wheeler Army Airfield for going 20 in a 15MPH school zone…dude it was Summer! Frankly I have no qualms with them except this one little annoying thing they do .
The Back Story
Hubby and son go to PX one day to get some stuff for our grill.
Hubby and son come home with dog from Humane Society that was being sold in front of Schofield PX.
Dog starts off great but becomes to hyper for me and I am scared of dogs.
I create new household rule that Natalie (that’s her name) must remain outside during the workday.
One early morning while I am looking ugly as hell Natalie digs herself out the yard and is reported for running in the streets of our housing area.
I hear loud bang at my front door and it’s ONE MP.
He explains situation to me and next thing I know there are 3 MP cars at my house.
I am now being stared in the face by damn near 5 MP’s.
Keep in mind I have severe anxiety and being embarrassed sets that into motion to like a level 10. School is beginning soon and the moms who like to walk and aren’t lazy enough like me to drive the 45 seconds it takes to get down the road by car are now walking by giving me “that look”. You know that look you give the person stopped by the police because you are glad it’s them and not you. PT is now ending and the influx of soldiers returning home to get ready for work is making the situation look ten times worse then it should be. Sweat beads are forming on my head. Okay well in my mind it felt like they were and I was having a hot flash at 28.
You know one of those nervous hot flashes. I was thinking about how I was probably about to be arrested , how I wanted to punch my husband in the face for not fixing the damn hole like I told him to and not being home from PT Yet to go through this embarrassment with me, and thinking about how I looked as everyone walked past my house in judgment. They probably thought we were being raided!
After the suspect is apprehended I thought they would quickly leave and my shame would be over. No instead you want to stand outside and congregate to chat with your pals. Dude Leave LOL!
Point is do you really need to send a whole squad every time something goes wrong on post?
Have you ever had a run in with the MP’s on base? Was it just one MP or the whole unit.

LOL!! This happened to my husband (then boyfriend!) on post in Ft. Rich (JBER), Alaska! He was pulled over by one MP car, then another showed up and were standing off to the right side back of the car watching me to make sure I wouldn’t turn a gun on them or something! One was talking to my man and another was behind him. They didn’t tell us what was going on until we pulled off the road and into our driveway (this all happened just before we got home on post). That’s when we were told it was because one of his taillights was burned out! It was humiliating, to say the least. Especially when about 15 minutes later my man gets a call from his ex-wife asking him why he was pulled over because her friends in the neighborhood my man lived in had called her to gossip all about it.
I’m the exact same way…like I already feel weird and uncomfortable in front of new crowds but anxiety on top of it feels 10x worse lol
One of the most embarrassing, degrading, horrifying moments in my life happened because of military police. They sent like 4 or 5 cars to my house & it was so outrageous. It still makes me want to puke thinking about it. I still want to find each of them & get them fired…at least I would if I let my anger get the best of me! But their ignorance stems from their command’s ignorance & that ignorance on that day was because of my husnand’s command full of unintelligent “men” who should have never been accepted to go to Boot Camp… Anyway…I feel your pain!

MP’s are something else. I try to respect them, but after my experience it is hard. I forewarn you the story is very personal and the outcome is not a good one. But today I feel like sharing my story, albeit only a tiny sliver of it.
I was 7 months pregnant and on March 23, 2013 I had a lack of fetal movement. So I went to the hospital, figuring everything was fine, so I left my husband at home. It was late and I did not want to get our daughter out. Well, to make the worst part of this story short, my baby had no heartbeat. I told L&D I had to get my husband and I would be back. So I cried the whole way to the truck and drove the 2 minute drive home. My husband for in the truck and as he was backing out two MP’s fly up behind us blocking us. They made my husband get out of the vehicle and explain to them what he was doing. He explain he was taking me back to the hospital to have the baby checked on. At this point my husband did not believe or want to accept that our son had died. So they said they would follow us to the hospital. You would figure once they got us to the hospital they would have left. Nope. So my husband drops our daughter and I off at the front door so he can to park the truck. The MP’s wait outside. That is okay, until one of them comes in and says rudely “Mam, I need you to go over to the ER.” I told him I knew where the hell I needed to go and obviously my husband did not since that is where he went. So you would figure when my husband finally came into the regular entrance to the hospital that they would have left. Not a chance. They followed us to the elevator. I asked them to leave. I told them they were not needed and that I was not a criminal. Well they did not leave. They followed us all the way up to L&D. Being me and how upset I was, I asked them did they think I was going to stop on the second floor and have cocktails or something. It was a horrible experience losing your child and then being treated as a criminal. They take things to the extreme. There was no reason for them to escort us. There was no physical emergency. I could have stayed home for as long as I wanted and then went in to be induced. I wonder what they would have done had I waited? I know the MP’s have a thing now about our house. They have talked about dreading a call from our house. That is sad to say, but let them try to treat me like a criminal again.
I am sorry to hear about the loss of your baby . That is awful and I can’t for the life of me understand why they felt the need to do that. Thank you for sharing your story.
I totally agree that the mp’s can be a tad ridiculous. I never had any issues till I got to Fort Leonard Wood (a damn training post). I got pulled over with my husband in the car and approached like we just robbed a store, but “what did you really do for that reaction?” – I forgot to put my damn blinker on when making a turn!!
Wow that is super ridiculous…They need to go find real criminals!
