While I am not huge on the New Year’s resolution “thing” I did make a small promise to myself that I would venture out into Fayetteville more. I know some call Fayettenam the “Black Hole”. But, the truth is Fayetteville is really trying hard to step their game up a bit. One of the ways they are doing this is by building the downtown area up. It’s actually becoming artsy fartsy with lots of eclectic shops and local eateries.

The other day I had to run some errands for SpouseBox ( the monthly subscription box for military spouses), which meant I needed to go downtown. As with any outing I needed coffee to function so I made my way to Hay Street, and came across a cute little coffee shop called “The Coffee Cup”.

There are two locations with the other being in Hope Mills. The Coffee Cup is a small cute coffee shop that offers 100% Fair Trade organicious (as they like to call it) coffee in 12, 16, 0r 20 oz cups. They serve the usual cappuccinos, lattes, and mochas, cold coffees, and tea plus several more tasty treats to choose from. There is plenty of outside sitting room and a few spots to sit on the inside.

Of course my interest was piqued by the Valentine themed coffee selections posted outside which forced me to go in and try something different.  These selections included Cupid’s Cocoa, Chocolate Raspberry Truffle and Chocolate Cake. However as fate would have it my eyes zoomed in on their Red Velvet Latte. I had to contain my excitement that someone in this world managed to create a coffee that replicates my favorite kind of cake. The latte was pretty good even though I had to spruce it up a bit more with sugar, but I didn’t mind because I had a ball at their sugar station. Maybe it’s just me but I never seen any place offer out nice huge crystals of organic sugar so easily. They have a nice sugar dispenser of it and all the raw sugar your heart can desire out for your pleasure. Don’t worry if you’re  not a raw sugar kind of person they have the regular stuff too. Maybe I’m just like sweets…who knows!

All in all this was a great place to stop at and have a warm treat. Their prices are a bit higher but it’s locally delivered and 100% organic and shade grown. You have to pay for quality. If you want to get a cup of their coffee on the cheap they offer COFFEE HOUR during the weekdays from 7-8:30am starting at $1 a cup.

  1. That coffee shop is a sister shop to ‘The Wine Cafe’ which also has locations downtown and by the Hope Mills Theater.

  2. I find downtown to be intriguing as I drive through. I need to make a point of stopping. I hear Off the Hook is great, too!

  3. Krystel!

Thank you so very much for sharing your visit to The Coffee Cup…what an honor! I’m actually a Veteran’s Spouse myself and the owner of The Coffee Cup & The Wine Café shops. Thank you for such a great review not only about The Coffee Cup, but also about Downtown Fayetteville as we are working hard with the Downtown Alliance and the City to improve the Heart of Fayetteville and also to bring more Military families downtown. Thank you!-Thank you!
I wanted to point out that we have the Java room behind the baristas area at The Coffee Cup Downtown which is perfect for Military Coffees.

    Thanks again and God bless!
