Theme parks are always a family-favorite for their twisting rollercoasters, fun games, amusing shows, and delicious funnel cakes. Before deciding on which one to visit, check to see what military discounts are offered.

Universal Studios Hollywood ­—Offers discounts on pre-purchased tickets for active and retired U.S. military members through local MWR/ITR offices. Or receive a $3.00 discount off General Admission tickets at the Park’s entrance.

LEGOLAND, CA Offers reduced price tickets for active military members with free admission on the next visit.

LEGOLAND, FL Offers free admission to any active military members and reduced price tickets for families.

Six FlagsOffers a 20% military discount at the Guest Services Center for a one-day General Admission ticket with your military ID. You can also check with your MWR/ITR office to see if they have discounted admission tickets to purchase before you arrive at the park.

Busch Gardens,SeaWorld,Sesame PlaceThrough Waves of Honor, U.S. military men and women receive free admission and free admission for up to 3 family members.

WATER PARKS

There’s no better way to stay cool during the hot summer months than visiting a water park. Discover which ones across the U.S. offer military discounts.

Schlitterbahn, Galveston Island Participates in American Heroes Week. Active military who show military ID or proof of employment, at the park entrance, receives free admission, ½ price discounts for family, free parking, free tubes, and free life jackets.

Schlitterbahn, South Padre IslandOffers discounted pre-purchased Military Appreciation Day tickets.

Schlitterbahn, New Braunfels Offers discounts to 15 participating installations in Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and New Mexico.

Schlitterbahn, Kansas City Also participates in American Heroes Week and offers discounts to installations in Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Oklahoma, and Nebraska.

Water Country USA,Aquatica,Adventure IslandThrough Waves of Honor, U.S. military men and women receive free admission and free admission for up to 3 family members.

Dollywood Splash CountryActive and retired military personnel, military reservists, and disabled veterans, along with their spouses and dependents, receive 30% off one-day admission tickets when valid IDs are presented. Tickets can’t be pre-purchased.

DISNEY ATTRACTIONS

Where better to take your family than a Disney theme park? Not too many places can top the winding rides, musical parades, sparkling firework shows, and the meet and greets with Disney characters. Disney parks also offer wonderful deals for military personnel and their families.

DisneylandDisneyland, CA offers active and retired U.S. military members up to six 3-Day Military Promotional Park Hopper Tickets for only $132 each plus tax, compared to $226, saving you $94.

Disney WorldDisney World, FL offers active and retired military members up to six 4-Day Military Promotional Tickets for $177 each plus tax, compared to $294, saving you $117.

ZOOS

Visiting a zoo is a great daytime activity while on a family vacation, and some of the best ones in the nation provide discounts to those in the military.

San Diego ZooSan Diego Zoo, CA offers active military members free 1-Day Pass admission with valid military ID and discount packages for families.

Houston ZooHouston Zoo, TX offers active military members and their families free admission.

Omaha’s Zoo & AquariumOmaha Zoo & Aquarium, NE, one of the best zoos in the country, offers active military members discounted admission, as well as zoo and IMAX theater combo deals.

NATIONAL PARKS

America has 58 national parks throughout the country. Visiting national parks is a great summer activity and makes for a fun family road trip. Most of these parks don’t charge an entrance fee. However, some charge entrance, transportation, and/or commercial tour fees. But, there are certain times of the year where these fees are waived: Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, National Park Week (in April), National Park Service Birthday (August 25), and Veterans Day Weekend. If visiting a number of national parks, the National Park’s Annual Pass is free to all military families.

OTHER PLACES OFFERING MILITARY DISCOUNTS

While major U.S tourist attractions offer discounts for family vacations, remember that discounts are also available to military families throughout the year.Military hotels, restaurants, sporting venues, apparel stores, auto parts stores, and airport parking are just a few of the places and services offering military discounts.
