It’s finally here! A reality show about Army Wives. Now in all fairness I am not sure if this show is anything compared to the previous attempt to create a Jersey Shore version of a military wives reality show, especially since it will appear on OWN aka Oprah’s Network.

Before all the critics get their panties in a bunch I will say I am reserving judgement because of several reasons. The main reason being that this show actually looks like it has the backing of the Army well at least the Army in Alaska.

The casting call was actually placed on an official Army .MIL page… See here!

A recent article on MSNBC stated that: “Married to the Army: Alaska” will depict the “emotional roller coaster of homecomings – all set against the backdrop of the rugged, demanding and extreme conditions of the last frontier.”

I am hoping with the backing of the Army and the fact that in comparison to other TV stations,  Oprah’s network does depict some morals that will hopefully allow this show to be more of a learning  journey inside the life of an Army Wife!

According to internet sources there is no set date but the show is expected to premiere this Summer.

Will you be tuning in?…Sound off !

  1. I will certainly be tuning in. If it is a realistic depiction, then great. If not, it will be entertaining tv, Either way, its just tv.

  2. I will deff be watching! I’m so excited, Ive been saying this for years, Because of how fake “Army Wives” that they should come out with a reality version of Army Wives!! I hope they do different seasons @ different bases, like Bragg!! =)

  3. I won’t be tuning in because I’ve never really watched reality tv and don’t really enjoy it. I hope that it is tasteful and that others can enjoy it. I would really hate to see trashy articles about Army wives start popping up.

  4. IDK about this show…. I’d have to watch it and see how it is. I’m not sure if I’d like it or not but I’m going to atleast give it a shot *shrugs*

  5. I have never been much of a reality tv show, but I might just tune in to this one. I hope they do a good job of representing the REAL Army Wives…..and don’t instead perpetuate stereotypes.

  6. Great to see the name change. For, not all Army spouses are wives these days….If OWN is going to be realistic, then the title change was needed. They are going to have a difficult job balancing the positive and negative aspects of the life they have chosen to depict. If they are successful, they will have made a valuable contributrion.

  7. Yeah, there’s one super crazy wife in the show. Can’t wait to see her self-destruct on screen. Popping my popcorn already.

  8. My wife and children were with me at Ft. Richardson for 4 years. It was a fantastic tour of duty for all of us. Each winter the troops were on maneuvers from Jan to mid Mar. The wives were left to fend for them selves while we enjoyed the great out doors at 40-50 below. The wives banded together to assist each other. As I recall my wife was part of some all night bridge games where the children slept in sleeping bags in the next room. We were there for the earth quake when the wives all banded together again to assist not only each other but friends from off post.
