Moving to any new duty station can be challenging. You have to figure out out where things are on the military base and then learn your way around town. Of course we like making it easy for those here at Bragg by sharing fun places and things to do here in the local area.

Here are 8 places to take the kiddies the next time you need to get them out the house:

Fascinate U- Children’s Museum

This is one of my favorite museums and I am a 35 year old adult. In a time where playing usually means an Ipad or some form of electronics, this museum truly allows kids to use their imagination as they pretend to be firefighters, cashiers, meteorologist, and more. They always have special events and even offer a Summer camp. The best part is admission is only $4 per kid. It’s cheap, fun and located downtown where you can go for a tasty lunch after!

Defy Gravity Fayetteville

This amazing place is for those days where the kids need to burn some energy. Let them jump it all off at Defy Gravity the new trampoline park located near the mall at 361 WestWood Shopping Center. Pricing starts at $11 per child for one hour of jumping and you can check their “Activities” tab for special discounts and promotions.

Omni Cinema 8

This movie theater is the go to when you want to go to the movies without draining your pockets. Tickets start at $2 per person before and $3 after 6 pm. On Mondays all movies are $1.50 ALL DAY! Spring break will be coming so be sure to add this to your military lifestyle planner.

The Climbing Place

When your kids are driving you up the wall let them climb up the walls at The Climbing Place located in Downtown Fayetteville. At this locally owned small business kids and adults alike can try their skills at rock climbing in a safe and fun environment. There’s something here for everyone including beginners so don’t worry if you don’t know how. The best part is children 3-5 years old are only $5 and kids 6-12 are just $11 and this includes all the gear they need to climb. The Climbing Place also offers a promotion for military (their dependents), first responders and college students on Wednesdays.

Escape Room Fayetteville

There are 2 major escape rooms in Fayetteville and one in Cameron (near Linden Oaks) that I know of. The first escape room called Xscape Factor room is located downtown Fayetteville. I wanted to share Escape Room Fayetteville for those of you located more centrally to the middle of Fayetteville. Escape rooms are amazing and once again I am a fan because you actually have to think. Solving the mysteries in these themed rooms requires some serious team work. While this activity is not for toddlers, 9 years old and up are welcome to join in the fun. This is a great family night activity!

Greg’s Pottery

This is the place to go with the crafty kid who loves to paint. Customers can pick a piece and paint it in store. Fees do apply so be sure to check their FB page for details and discounts. They also have a fun paint with the princesses event coming up for the little ones in February.

MillStone Theater

We have to mention Millstone Theaters because they offer sensory friendly screenings. While this is not offered daily they do offer events monthly and this give kids with autism or other delays a chance to go and enjoy themselves as well. Kids are free to be themselves, sing , and move around in the theater.  The best part is that admission is only $5 and popcorn $1. See the calendar of events here.

Cumberland County Library

I’d venture to say this is the biggest library in town. It’s located downtown and offers a ton of free daily kids events including Baby Bounce Storytime, Get Creative with Legos, and Preschool Story time.
