This is a sponsored post in partnership with IHOP.

What if I told you that you could eat pancakes with no guilt, because you’re supporting an incredible cause?

IHOP is partnering with the Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation , an organization that provides scholarships for children who’ve lost a parent during service. For the entire month of November, when you visit IHOP and order Pancakes With A Purpose (http://www.ihop.com/fallenpatriots), they will donate $1 to CFPF.

Since its inception, CFPF has awarded over $8.5 million in scholarships to over 600 students.

While that number is incredible, the impact the foundation makes really hits home when you hear directly from scholarship recipients. I had the opportunity to chat with Ashton Lee, a senior at High Point University in North Carolina, about what having this scholarship means to him and most importantly, about his family, including the memories with his Dad.

Listen to our conversation here:

I have to say, being a veteran and military spouse for 11 years, I’ve always held the utmost respect for Gold Star families and all they’ve sacrificed. But, it’s not often that you get to hear from the children who’ve lost their parent; who perhaps, have sacrificed the most. I know many of us make it a point to support and patronize the companies and charities that pour into our community. I’d never heard of Children of Fallen Patriots until this campaign, so I’m ecstatic to have another way to support Gold Star families.

Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation, along with their partnership with IHOP, are showing up for and contributing to our community in a very unique and powerful way. There’s been much talk lately and many headlines about what our service members know when they sign up for service. While we may have different opinions about that means, one thing we can agree on is that our military expects for their families to be taken care of if they do have to make the unfortunate, but ultimate, sacrifice.

Thank you, Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation and IHOP, for honoring our Heroes memories and lives in tangible ways.
