A few weeks back I wrote a blog post about if living offpost really saves you money, and as you can tell I was pretty against the idea although I had done it before. I thought it was hilarious that after all that rattling of the mouth I did, that guess what… I will be living offpost!!!!!

As you know to say the least I haven’t been to happy with the lack of organization , as far as housing goes at Bragg. I had already been looking offpost just in case but was confident that we would get a house onpost. Then another onpost hurdle arose and I said FORGET IT!

In the mean time  a wonderful and caring agent named  Mary from Team 360 Realtors had been helping me to seek homes and that is when I found the home below which I am proud to say I will be moving into and I just love it…Isn’t it beautiful?

Now don’t get me wrong I still stand by the fact that living offpost costs more in my opinion, I mean the money I am shelling out for this move alone proves that. At the same time I think I am ready to get away from the everyday ruckus of living onpost. I am ready to step outside this way living offpost won’t be such a shock for me when it is time for the husband to leave active duty one day.

For those coming to Bragg seeking to live offpost I recommend Mary she is all for the best interest of her customers and she also manages the home of a good friend of mine here in Hawaii who has a home in NC. The area I will be living is in a really nice part of Spring Lake with excellent schools.

In the meantime I say Mahalo and send lots of love to the wonderful people I have met here in Hawaii. It is time for me to depart this island in a matter of hours. It’s been great!

  1. So Excited for you! I’m glad that even though it may be more money that you will be in a beautiful home that I am sure that you and your family will enjoy staying at during your time there at Bragg. So Glad that God allowed everything to work out in your favor and I’m so glad that Mary could help you. She’s the best:-). Wish You The Best Moving Forward Friend. Love Ya!

  2. Great looking home! We are heading to Benning on a house hunting trip over Spring Break. I hope we can get as lucky as you!!! Congrats!

  3. I love the house. It really is beautiful. Have fun at Bragg! Or should I say not so much fun LOL. We left Fayetteville in November. All there was to do was eat out and shop. Maybe Spring Lake has a little more to offer.

  4. I have to say I don’t think you could pay me to live on post at Ft. Bragg with all the tragedies that continue to happen on that post. The house is beautiful!

  5. During our many years at Bragg, Harnett county was our favorite place to live. You are away enough for peace and quiet, but close enough to everything. Also, much quicker to get to Raleigh and such. Just catch highway 1 in Sanford :)

  6. In the 10+ years I have been either in the military or an army wife, I have never lived anywhere where it was more expensive to live off post than it was to live on post.

Our current BAH is almost $1500. This pays for our rent and all our utilities including the phone bill. I also don’t have to put up with any of the BS that goes in with living in housing, such as paper-thin walls, nosy neighbors, or lawn tickets.

I can’t understand why anyone would WANT to live in base housing if there is so much else available for cheaper outside of post. So you’ve got to drive to work. Big deal. I’d rather live an hour away than on base any day of the week.

  7. So glad everything worked out well for you and happy to hear you and your family arrived safely. I am so jealous, I can’t wait ’til we move off this island. Your new home is so beautiful, I don’t blame you for living off post, I’d do it in a heartbeat, especially after witnessing 10+ MPs bash my neighbor’s windows in because of a simple comment his wife posted on fb. On post there’s no privacy, too much drama, too many fights, crazy neighbors and you have to beware of women who say they’re your “friends”, which is why I don’t speak to many people here, and rarely participate in FRG. I just try to stay my cordial and pleasant self. =) Well, you are Amazing, Krystel and I wish all the best to you and your beautiful family. God bless!
