Every year BAH (Basic Allowance for Housing) rates are released and we get to see whether or not the military (or whoever decides this stuff) thinks the cost of living in our area has went up or down. The good thing is that even if the BAH has went down in your area, those who were already stationed there fall under the individual protection policy . This means that those who were already living in a area where BAH has decreased will not see a decrease only an increase if the BAH goes up.
I am so excited that ours has went up so much a considerable amount here in the Fayetteville NC area.

it looks as though ours stayed the same. Husband is in recruiting so we fall under the Carlisle Barracks, PA BAH even though we are over an hour away and living is crazy expensive here.
Same area, and ours is going down. We’ll never be able to move off post.
We live in Colorado Springs, CO and I’m excited ours has increased almost $90!!! Yea :)
I still dont think they are equalizing it right. We just came from Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL to Fort Hood, TX. About a year ago the BAH was equal. Then Huntsville went up a little and Fort Hood went down. The cost of living here at Fort Hood is much higher than Huntsville. I am very aware of prices as a coupon shopper and for example, in the commissary, most items that I regularly buy are 10-40 cents higher here at Fort Hood. Now this year both places have increased BAH but Huntsville is about $100 higher than Fort Hood for my husband’s pay grade.
I’m in Detroit and ours went up a little too, which is always nice since we just had another baby!
I live in WA state and ours went up also. Would of rather it went down since it all goes to Equity. This is the company that manages the housing on JBLM..

We are in the fayetteville area too. Ours is still lower than it was 2 years ago. So we will be getting the old rate. Ours was $1290 (e6 with dependents) its only 1218 this year with depenedents. At least we can’t go backwards and lose money

Ours went up by about $60. Not too much but it does help. We’re at Ft Campbell and it’s nice to see a raise because lots of soldiers were having trouble finding someplace that was affordable.
Ours is dropping by about 153 dollars, we are in Hawaii. Which is crasy since everything is so expressive here.

Yup, this is completely true. My jaw dropped when I saw 2012’s rates…What in the world were they thinking? Its impossible to find a decent place in a decent neighborhood off base with that $!
I Pay about $2200-2300 including utilities..we live in kapolei, kalealoa. 2 bed 1.5 bath, backyard..good neighborhood so its still under our bah (e-6)

I’m confused. This is the first I’ve heard of an individual protection policy. Ours went down almost $200 in Virginia Beach. Is this true?
Ours went up $126. whoa. But Fort Bliss is getting more populated. A 3bd/2ba house with a pool was going for $850-$900 when we moved here 2 years ago, now a 3bd/2ba house with a pool in the same area is about $1300.
Ours went down! Which blows, since we’re preparing to move. We were looking at $1156 a month and now we’re looking at just over $1000. :( What on earth?

I’m in Houston (he’s in Germany… EFMP bs.. long story) and we’re getting nearly 200 more per month?!??! My heart goes out to those of you who are getting less because lord knows if they cut ours by 200 a month we’d be up the creek. I pay at or over $100 a month here just for WATER. SMH.
Our BAH in Fort Lee dropped by almost $60 but what I don’t understand is Richmonds is almost $100 higher?
I’m still new to the Army life. Can someone please help me? I’m seeing reports that, if your BAH decreases (which ours did), we will keep the previous rate because we were stationed here BEFORE the decrease came into effect. Is this correct? I’ve tried to contact the financial department here at Drum, but no-one will return my calls.
