Hands down one of the best places I lived during my husbands military career was Georgia (Hunter Hunter Army Airfield to be exact). Whenever there was a four day or leave time we found ourselves on a road trip somewhere around this huge state.
Naturally being the cheapskate I am I was always on the look out for a military discount and with 11 military installations statewide there is a military discount available at many places.
Below are 5 great places to take the family in Georgia that offer a military discount.
1. Pine Mountain Wild Animal Safari
We went here during my husbands R&R a few years back and it was really interesting. You can drive through the Safari in your own car or take the complimentary bus ride with a tour guide that is included in the price of admission. You also have the option of renting a van at the park for less then $18.00 that can be driven through the safari. We chose that option since we didn’t want our car all scratched up. The animals do come up to your car.

As previous residents of Savannah my husband and I took this tour at night and let me say that it was pretty intense. Luckily if you just want to have a little lighter fun you can opt for a day time tour.

Georgia Aquarium offers a military discount of 20% off the general admission ticket to active and retired military personnel and their party. This discount is applicable to all branches of the military. To receive this discount, you must purchase your tickets at the Aquarium and present a valid military ID or at the ITT/MWR office at your local base.

Visit with the animals and see everything from real Panda bears to Orangutans.

We are stationed at Stewart, and usually try to take a road trip during a four day as well! We usually drive down to St Simons Island, Jekyll Island. Our family likes going on Nature hikes at Cay Creek Wetlands, and the smaller aquariums. We don’t mind being stationed here, but we are ready to be closer to home in OK! :)
