As a long time resident of the Fayetteville/Fort Bragg area I have watched it grow tremendously. Downtown has popped up with great coffee houses and artisan shops, there are a lot of new places to eat and now the addition of a brand new huge Marketfair shopping center.

Everyone knows that Skibo Road is the hub of shopping and eateries here in Fayetteville and if you have driven through there recently, you will probably notice some construction happening where the Carmike Marketfair is off of Morganton Road. This is the home of the up and coming Marketfair Shopping Center which is slated to open in the Fall of 2014.

“The main portion of the shopping center is designed to have a contemporary L-shape layout centered by Carmike Cinemas, so locals will be able to take advantage of open-air shopping, alfresco dining and evening strolls before catching a movie once the plaza opens.

The inviting community destination is expected to have national brand name retail stores and a mix of casual to upscale restaurants with a variety of menu types, offering something for everyone in town. Plus, the redevelopment also includes plans for three new driveways into the plaza from Skibo Road, Campground Road and Morganton Road, which will drastically help traffic flow into the complex.”

The stores haven’t officially been announced yet ( I can’t wait) but when they are you can join in on the excitement at the Shop Marketfair Facebook page. You can also keep in in the loop at http://www.ShopMarketFair.com .

In the meantime customers can still enjoy shopping H.H. Gregg, Gander Mountain and of course continue to watch movies at Carmike Marketfair 15.  Once the shopping center is finished it sounds like this will make a great family or date night destination.
