Thanks to AT&T I recently fulfilled a big request for my son. He wanted his own phone! I had been thinking about the best possible way to do this for him while being able to monitor usage and still give him the experience of not having just a basic old flip phone that has no features. When I realized they offered a new Prepaid option while still giving the phone owner all the features of a contract plan I was excited.

When one hears the words pre-paid phone their first thought is basic (if not prehistoric) and bare boned. My son and I were both surprised and delighted that his phone was a real Nokia Android smart phone with 4G LTE capabilities. He smiled as he felt leaps and bounds over his ten years as he was downloading music, playing the latest games and taking pictures just like he had  when I occasionally would let him use my iPhone. My anxiety of letting go was relaxed by my ability to monitor usage and phone time by the flexible options available by AT&T’s new prepaid GoPhone.

In the past my husband and I were reluctant to even consider a phone for our son due to the hurdles of adding a phone line to an existing family plan. AT&T GoPhone has a wide variety of plans that are flexible to meet any budget without the hassle of signing an annual contract.

If you had concerns about buying a new phone you will be pleased to know that AT&T GoPhone plans are compatible with most phones (even those from other cell phone providers)

Just add a GoPhone-activated SIM card and your existing phone and instantly switch over.

My son is doing well with his new phone and I like the fact that I am teaching him responsibility. Not only does he ask about his usage activity , but the flexible plan options allow me to choose the plan that benefits my pockets monthly and I have made him earning his plan as part of his allowance. So one month I can choose the $25 plan and the $60 plan the next.

I think this plan is not only great for us parents who want to get our kid a cell phone but great for military personnel as well since there is no contract or commitment. We know it’s an unspoken rule that military need to have cell phones. Additionally you can use your phone as a Wi-fi hotspot so it comes with double advantages.
