I’ve mentioned many times how I have utilized the USO various times in my military spouse life. They are known for doing great things for our military as well as being a place of comfort in the mist of layovers during traveling for our troops. I know first hand that families rise to the cause here on the home front as our troops battle the front lines overseas.

Cheerios and the USO have partnered up in the creation of a post card campaign to spread thanks and cheer to those military families and will help support USO programs.

    • Now through November, 2011 at your local grocer, specially-marked boxes of Cheerios cereal will feature Cheer postcards on the front of the box. Consumers can simply cut out the postcard from the Cheerios logo, write a message of thanks on the back, add a stamp and mail the pre-addressed card to the USO. The USO will deliver the Cheer card to military families across the country.

    • For each postcard received through November 2012, Cheerios will make a $1 donation to the USO to help fund programs that support military families.

  • To kick off the campaign, Cheerios has already donated $150,000 to the USO and will donate up to an additional $100,000 based upon the number of postcards received from specially marked boxes now through November 30th, 2012.

Sending a “Cheer” postcard is a simple way to say thanks and lift the spirits of our country’s military families. So, take a moment out of your day to spread some Cheer and send a message of thanks!

To celebrate in supporting our troops through Cheerios Cheer One winner will receive the prize pack below , which we received as well and my kids LOVE IT. The best part is the cereal dispenser which I have wanted every time I go to a hotel and eat breakfast.

  1. Almost every year that the troops (including my Husband) are home, I always bake goodies for them during the holidays and on random occasions. We distribute them through out his company!

  2. I love volunteering with the USO! This year I have asked some local vendors from my family’s hometown as well as a few other contacts to donate to my husband’s unit throughout their deployment.

  3. Doing small acts of kindness everyday if possible but my favorite one I like to do is go to the food court at the local exchange and do a random pay for your food day thing it totally shocks the military member when…I do this they look at me and say our you serious and I go yes I’m serious no question ask and I will keep on doing it and hope that others will follow my foot steps

  4. I’m actually headed to Walmart now to pick up some items for some of the single soldiers coming home to Bragg this week from deployment.

  5. helped to make sure all our soldiers got christmas stockings full of goodies, gave tons of canned food to my daughters school drive, and to the local jrotc, donate lightly used clothing

  6. I will continue to send things to our Adapt a Soldier which is something I have done all year and feel it’s a duty as a military wife since many gave to my husband during deployment. I will also continue to be a good friend to other military wives and watch there children, make meals, and just be a good listener as their loved ones continue to be away on deployments. I will be missing my husband very soon again and it’s not an easy thing and every little bit helps.

  7. We are stationed in South Korea and I plan on making baked goods and treats for our of our single soldiers and my baby sister is in Iraq, I am planning on sending care-packages to her and all her soldiers. The holidays are about giving and these people give everything to protect us also this is the first Christmas in years we will all be together so I am looking forward to us spending time together making a meal for all the soldiers at the barracks who are all away from their family’s, we are so lucky to be together this year.

  8. Each year we choose the youngest enlisted Soldier and provide his/her family with a complete Christmas dinner. We give it to the Station Commander so that they will not know who it came from. <3

  9. In the past we have adopted families and provided gifts and/or dinner. Or we’ve participated in Toys for Toys / Salvation Army Angel Tree. Cards for troops, blessing bags for homeless…

  10. I like to bake home made goodies and give it to the guys in my husbands company that either don’t have family or aren’t going home for the holidays we had 4 soldiers at our house for thanksgiving and as of right now are planning on having as many if not more for Christmas!

  11. I always give to the bell ringers for the salvation army… Every one I see! They saved my kids Christmas one year and I will forever be greatful!!!

  12. I send coupons to military friends stationed overseas, childrens clothing, etc to Haiti whenever we have family members traveling over (my hubby is from there) and any online freebies I find to my grandmothers address. It doesnt seem like a big deal but she’s on an extremely limited income and loves finding all the goodies in her mailbox. She had no idea why they were coming to her until my mom spilled the beans. lol !

  13. We always send cards to wounded soldiers at Walter Reed during Christmas and my house has become the meeting place for some of my husbands buddies that don’t get to go home for the holidays. Lol

  14. We pick out kids from the angel trees and help make their Christmas a little better by giving to those less fortunate :)

  15. We donate gently used toys to our church for children in need, participate in Operation Christmas Child, and get an angel off the Angel Tree. And this year we’ve kept up all of our giving traditions while my husband is deployed:(

  16. I always do little goodie bags with home made stuff for the guys in my husband’s unit who are single and can’t get home for the holidays. We also invite them over for Christmas dinner.

  17. I meet with my children’s teachers and we donate an entire meal to a family that they have identified that is in need.

  18. I love to make crafty gifts for every occasion and holiday, from Easter and Christmas to Halloween and St. Patrick’s Day! I just love giving people gifts, especially when they don’t expect it–the way it lights up their day, lights up mine! Giving is just as exciting as receiving, plus more, if you ask me! :)

Now that I joined Pintrest, I’m going to be crafting away all year long! I also love to make care packages for my husband and add in things to share with his unit. They get as excited as he does when he gets a package now! :)

  19. i will donate cloths that my family no longer needs to the local airmans attic and will donate my sons old coat he has out grown to the coat drive on post :)

    • Hi Buzz, I miss you in Vancouver! ( I have to admit I tune into you online ocsaoicnally!) I am a mom of 2 boys, both are now potty trained one with luck and one with perserverance!) I have never taught them to stand, and their dad does not stand either. (Less messy and easier when you are 2.5 than trying to stand on the stool and coordinate an action!) My 5 year old still sits down and does not think anything of it. However, when he was about 3.5 or 4 we did teach him to stand ay public toilets as there are slightly less germs that way. The best advice I was given while trying to potty train the oldest was pretty much every kid is trained by kindergarten . My older son was pee trained for a quite a while, but was afraid to go poop. He would go into his room, take off his pants and underwear, put on a pull up and do the job. He obviously got the concept of what was going to happen. One day, you will catch things just right and that will be it. I don’t think cold turkey will make a child more comfortable and confident on the potty. Keep with the underwear, don’t worry about accidents (good old fashioned plastic pants make less mess for the parents but still help the child feel what happens if they pee in the pants.) Good luck in Calgary and congrats on your boys.

  20. We always sent out Christmas cards to Wounded Warriors, as well as adopt a military family for Christmas. This is the season for giving!

  21. Sending boxes to my husband and friends who are currently deployed. Also helping families in need for Christmas with buying gifts and food.

  22. Every year my kids, husband and I go thru our entire house and gather items for needy families to donate. Sadly, this year our clothing, household items, food, hygiene items and toys went to a local military family who lost everything in a house fire just a few days ago. It broke my heart to think of another military family losing everything but my heart was filled with tears of pride and joy when each of my children (on their own) went in to their rooms and gathered toys they felt the kids would like, The toy my oldest son gave was his favorite toy…..Yeah, I totally cried….. :)

  23. We wrap inexpensive, practical gifts (gloves, hats, blankets) and give them to homeless people during the holidays. It isn’t much, but it certainly brings a smile to their face.

  24. We always pick a family to buy presents for every Christmas. I donate food to the local food banks and to local families who are in need. I am able to donate because I coupon smartly and spread the joy of foods and personal care items. I love helping out where ever I can. I aso donate items to my husbands unit for care packages they are sending over for the holidays. Knowing that I am helping someone else leaves me feeling overjoyed!

  25. When my husbands deployed I of course send him a bunch of packages & other soldiers that dont really recieve anything. They all had fun w/ the water guns! =)

  26. Giving food to the homeless in ala moana park here in Hawaii, if I can’t give much at least have a conversation with them to help them and a lunch.
