A few years ago, there was a movie in which at the end, the friends celebrated a loved one by releasing these beautiful paper lanterns over the sea. I always thought doing something like that would be awesome, but figured it was a only a TV thing. Fast forward to a few weeks ago I was surfing around Facebook and to my surprise came upon a event that’s happening in select states called “The Lantern Fest”.
What Is The Lantern Fest?
“At The Lantern Fest, thousands of revelers join together armed with lanterns for one unforgettable spectacle. There will be music, dancing, s’mores and, when the time is just right, we will light the sky with our highest hopes, deepest regrets, and fondest dreams”.
I think this is a great and meaningful event for entire families to attend.
When Is The Lantern Fest in Fayetteville aka Fort Bragg?
The Lantern Fest will be held Saturday Nov 21, 2015 at 1pm.
Where Is The Lantern Fest?
The Lantern Fest is held in select states and you can find your location here. For those here in Fayetteville it will be held at the Fayetteville Motor Speedway at 3704 Doc Bennett Rd, Fayetteville, North Carolina 28304.
How Do I Purchase Tickets and Get Lanterns?
Fayetteville and Fort Bragg people can purchase tickets here. “Early Bird” and “Regular Registration” tickets have sold out. Currently the only tickets available are “Late Registration” and “Day of Registration” tickets. Late registration tickets are $35 per adult and comes with a wristband granting you entrance to the event, a Lantern, a marker, a lighter, and a s’mores kit (with enough supplies to make 4 s’mores). Kids 3 and under are free and kids 4-15 can register with a $5 kids pass and will receive a free gift.
You should arrive early and bring chairs as lanterns don’t go up until the sun goes down.
The awesome folks who head up the “Lantern Fest” are letting a lucky Army Wife 101 reader win 4 tickets to the Fayetteville Lantern Fest.

I want to go to this because it looks like an amazing experience!!! I haven’t gotten out much in the past few months because I don’t know anyone here but this looks like a great way to meet people ❤️
14 years ago on Nov 20 as a young soldier and military spouse my husband and I lost our oldest daughter, Makayla Sian Sanders due to complications of Imcompetent Cervix. She lived an amazing 8 days and changed our lives forever. At the time we were unable and unwilling to have a funeral but we did cremate her. & After a long uphill battle and a total of 8 pregnancies GOD blessed us to have three healthy beautiful children but Every year we try to celebrate her life as a family together remembering how her life changed our life for the better. I think this would be a great way to celebrate life, and how her light shines on us as a family. I think it would be amazing for my children to see happy memories attached to Makayla’s birth instead of mommy crying and being sad every year.
I would love tickets to see the lantern so released in honor of my children so father who passed on June 8th 2015
I’ve got 2 girls, 5 and 7 and a husband who isn’t always home. This would be a really fun family event that they’d remember forever! <3
I would love to go to the Lantern Festival because I’ve never been to one and would love to attend! I think it’s a great way to send positive vibes up with my family! This would just be an overall amazing experience!
