As much as I despised living in Hawaii, one of the things I miss the most is the food. One of my favorite dishes is a common fast food item with a twist known as  “Garlic Fries”. They are the most savory side of fries you can have with a nice juicy burger.

I became hooked on these while eating at one of my favorite local diners in Hawaii “Big City Diner”. A few nights ago I was craving some , so I whipped together my own quick version.

Just a warning to forgive my pictures, I could not find my camera on this day and I had to use my handy dandy BlackBerry camera.

*Remember I eyeball ingredients so adjust measurements to your liking and family size*.

(1) bag of frozen crinkled french fries (or cut your own using fresh potatoes)

Couple of pinches fresh or dried parsley

Garlic Powder (Optional)

A pinch or so of Kosher salt or Sea salt

4 fresh cloves of garlic chopped fine (food processor works best)

3-4 tablespoons of Olive oil (just depends on the amount of fries you make)

Ingredients
Fry your french fries as directed on the package...For a healthier version you may bake them until crisp but it takes longer.
Remove fries from frying pan place on paper towels and sprinkle with salt and garlic powder
Begin to peel crush and chop garlic cloves
Garlic should look similar to this when done or put in a food processor for a finer chop. I love nice big chunky pieces of garlic stink breath and all lol!
Transfer chopped garlic to a mixing bowl and begin to pour olive oil in bowl
Add in parsley and alittle salt
Mix together
Add fries into garlic mixture and begin to toss until all fries are evenly coated with oil and garlic
Serve and Enjoy!

  1. LOVE….LOVE…LOOOOOOOVE the garlic fries!!!!! An even easier way to make them is to take the same bag of fries or the steak cut fries and put them on a cookie sheet of baking pan, sprinkle them with Lawrys Garlic Salt course ground with parsley, bake in oven 375 – 400 for about 20-25 minutes. I always bake my fries cause its an easy clean up. LOL SUPER EASY method cause Lawrys already has the garlic, salt and parsley mixed for you. Get the 33 oz bottle from Costco or Sam’s! :-) And if you like spice the way I do, sprinkle fries with sliced jalepenos (from jar) while baking.
    DELICIOUS!!! :-)
