Everyone seems to think that Fort Bragg, North Carolina is this giant black hole full of fast food joints and strip clubs. While every place has a seedy street or area, there are many awesome places to spend a special night with the Mr. or Mrs. that aren’t some cheesy chain restaurant or club. If you’re looking to just go out, then by all means hit up the normal local chains. The list I’ve compiled is for those really special date nights where you want to spend a little.

Morgan’s Chop House

This was a personal favorite of mine. I’m totally judging and saying that some of Fayetteville’s elite hang out there. It was that kind of crowd. The food is good and fresh and cooked to order. The atmosphere is upscale while the ambiance is romantic and tables are set with black tablecloths and drinking glasses. The last time I went there I had their Paella Porkchop which was soooo good and tender. They also serve items like Kangaroo and Alligator Jambalaya. If you’re not that brave (neither am I) don’t worry because their are plenty of awesome steaks , salads, pastas and appetizers to choose from. Be prepared to spend minimum $70 if you are getting two normal entrees. If you don’t love meat they have a vegetarian selection too. While I couldn’t remember the drink I had there…let’s just call it “The Grinch”. Morgan’s Chop House is located at 201 S McPherson Church Road, Fayetteville, NC 28303.

Luigi’s Italian Restaurant and Bar

bruchetta

I had the pleasure of being taken to this cozy Italian spot thanks to the Fayetteville Convention and Visitors Bureau while on a tour of Fayetteville. One of the great things about this award winning restaurant is that you get a cozy, romantic local ambiance without the high price tag on the food. Dishes start as low as $10.50. When I visited I had the “Shrimp Diavolo” which was tasty and as you can imagine they offer an assortment of pasta dishes as well as meat entrees. Of course I enjoyed the awesome bruschetta pictured above. Lastly, they offer a top notch bar and live entertainment. Luigi’s is located at 528 N. Mcpherson Church Rd.

Sherefe

sherefe sherefe2 sherefe3This is by far my favorite. They serve healthy Mediterranean style fresh food. I had a chance to  meet the owner Mustafa who is from Turkey. He only believes in cooking with local fresh ingredients and really lives and breathes the fresh food they serve. I’ve had several dishes from there, but I love their appetizers and their salmon burger was an all time favorite for me. If you sign up for their newsletter you get their their daily lunch specials which are awesomely priced for a daytime lunch date with your spouse. Be sure to ask if they are serving the “Lemon Chicken” soup. You will thank me! The best part is they are located in an elegant, cozy spot in historic downtown Fayetteville which has 3 dining rooms. The owner also does cooking classes which can be a fun date night option as well. Sherefe is located at 114 Gillespie Street.

Sho Gun Japanese

Is located on Ramsey St and is your everyday Hibachi style grill. What makes it so great is that the food is superb and while a lot of people are starting to learn of their existence, it’s nowhere as crowded as Miyabi’s or Sumurai all located on and off Skibo. Even if you don’t want to sit at a Hibachi table, you can sit in one of their nice size booths. They make amazing fresh sushi on the premises and have a nice bar. Their menu is the usual, but their rice is the best fried rice so far. Their Japanese Rose is my favorite drink. Their hibachi chefs are really nice and the last time we had the singing chef who is really cool. Dinner isn’t too expensive. Expect to spend what you would at any other local hibachi.

shogunThe Wine Cafe

While they don’t serve food here, this is a great date night spot to feel grown and sexy. Enjoy fun wine dispensary machines where you can get a glass of wine. It allows you to not take full glass of something that you may not like. Pay and enjoy sampling. If your spouse isn’t the wine type, then I am told they also have craft beers. There are two locations. One is in Hope Mills and the other is in historic downtown Fayetteville.

Brasa

While this Brazilian Steakhouse isn’t in Fayetteville, its not too far away in Raleigh. Bring your appetite and wallet because men with skewers of meat come to your table until you indicate for them to stop with the red and green rock on your table. Everything from garlic steak  to leg of lamb and ribs will come your way. Additionally, you can enjoy their live band and even sit in their bar and lounge area after you stuff your face. Afterwards hop on over to Gigi’s Cupcakes (located just across the parking lot) and sit outside and enjoy a sweet with your sweet.
