It’s no secret the fiasco that ensued yesterday with the opening of the Sears Heroes Wish Registry . If you want to know what happened click here.

In light of that I just received the following email from a Sears spokesperson and it looks like all those applications from yesterday are being discarded to give everyone a fair chance to apply again.

Here is the official email I received just a few minutes ago:

Thank you for your continued support of the Sears Heroes at Home Wish Registry.

As you may know, we encountered a few issues with the registration process on Aug. 31, which impacted some people’s ability to register.

Given the sacrifices that our military heroes and their families make, we believe it’s particularly important that everyone have an equal opportunity to register. Accordingly, a new registration process will be conducted on Saturday, September 3, 2011 at 1pm CST.

PLEASE NOTE: All prior applications will be discarded.  If your readers were able to submit a registry application yesterday, they must re-apply during the new registration time period in ordered to be considered for the registry.

At the dedicated time, Sears will post a REGISTRATION link on the Sears Heroes at Home website,
http://www.sears.com/heroesathome, where active military members, Guard and Reservists and their families who comply with program guidelines can sign up for the program. Registration will again be on a first-come, first-serve basis and will close once the maximum number of 20,000 applicants is reached.

We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused but want things to be fair for all families. Sears appreciates all the sacrifices that our military members and their families make for our country and we wish them all a wonderful holiday season.

Many thanks again,

Tom Aiello

Division Vice President, Sears

7 Comments on Breaking News Update 2: Sears Heroes Wish Registry To Be DONE OVER!!!…Details Inside!!!

  1. Although it may be kind of a pain to reapply , I would like to thanks Sears and all who donate. Hope we get one if not then someone needed it more than us. So Thank You SEARS!!!!!

  2. Oh I think we should make it rank based…

If your service member has served more than 4 years or been deployed more than three times you should be eligible for this program.

This is about ridiculous – I posted on the other article about how I felt. I get so angry when young military spouses or old spouses for that matter get all over entitled and ungrateful. Grown up and learn to budget if you are having such a hard time making ends meet.

I am also really excited about getting another shot at it. I was so excited that it went live, I put in my information and not hubby’s…lol. DUH! So I get to re-register the right way now!

  3. And now… people who got through the first time and were able to submit an application are complaining because they have to reapply now that Sears is trying to give everyone an equal shot at applying. Some are those same people that were telling others not to complain when they got error messages the first time around. Hmm.

  4. We donate every year and I never realized until yesterday just how bad some of these spouses act. My husband read some of the comments and he was appalled that grown ups behave just this badly.. We will still donate this year as we have a firm belief in helping other soldiers, regardless of their flippin’ rank. ALL solders at some point need a little help. Also, like my husband always says,” every soldier has a story.” So, before everyone gets all high and mighty, think about that.

  5. Hey ladies lets all show sears how grateful we all are! What documents do you need because i missed the first one…
