Jamaican-born U.S. Army Captain Maxine Reyes is the embodiment of ambition. The retired veteran served in both the U.S. Army and Air Force, and all the while, she managed to do it while married to a fellow service member and raising a daughter.

Although recently retired, Maxine isn’t standing still. She is adapting to her new multi-faceted lifestyle and following her dreams. Today, the former combat veteran is making a name for herself as a speaker, singer, author, entrepreneur and influencer.

Maxine’s Book “Happily Joint: The Secret to Relationship Resiliency”

When Maxine met Ken, she knew that he was the one. (Tune into her video interview below for their full story.)

The couple, after being asked again and again “How do you do it?” wrote a book. What’s even more amazing? They wrote it while geographically dislocated.

I decided to check it out for myself. One Saturday morning I read Happily Joint: The Secret To Relationship Resiliency while lounging in bed. My husband was asleep beside me and I was able to read it from cover to cover before he woke up. That in itself was a huge plus that I was able to digest such useful information in one sitting.

Ken and Maxine Reyes have collectively endured the hardships, stress and challenges of military life while maintaining long-distance relationships with each other more than once. Because of this, I was interested to see what the couple advised.

Happily Joint provided a refreshing outlook as a quick read with enlightening information. I enjoyed how the book came from authentic, personal experience and highlighted first Maxine’s advice and then Ken’s advice. (That’s right, read it to learn what your husband may never articulate to you!) So often, it’s easy to get wrapped up in our own perspective or those of our same-gendered peers/friends, so this was a fun, new and informative take on relationships.

It is worth mentioning that for our audience members of various beliefs, the book features quotes from the Bible. This does not affect the messages, lessons and advice provided, and for Christian readers, this may enhance your experience.

The information in Happily Joint can be applied and valuable to both military and civilian marriages. If you are looking for a his-and-her guide to relationship success, give it a read. Happily Joint: The Secret to Relationship Resiliency is available on Amazon in both Kindle and paperback versions.
