For military couples, time apart is a given. Absence can make the heart grow fonder, and we wanted to know what our Army Wife 101 readers miss most when their spouse is gone.

Here are some of our favorite responses.

“The smell of his cologne, his arms wrapped around me, hearing his boots as he walks in the door…I could go on and on.”

“A whole dictionary of things but most of all our snuggles. Every rainy day sends me into a tailspin. Pizza, vodka shots, and super snuggles every time it rained and we were off together. Sounds so childish and selfish but that’s what I miss most. His company.”

“I miss our conversations and picking on each other. And him sleeping next to me. I can’t sleep without him. Couch is my bed while he’s gone.”

“Omg everything! But the most is that he makes songs about me. Like funny ones and randomly sings them. I act like they annoy me but deep down they bring me so much joy. I miss him.”

“Everything said is sweet and mushy and I’m over here like I MISS help with the kids!!!!!!”

“His smell. The feeling of his foot on mine when we sleep. The way he looks when he is so tired but trying to hang in till the end of the movie for me. Like one wife said, it’s just his company. Hours of talking about nothing.”

“Hard to narrow it down but just his presence. Even though we can both be in the same room at the same time and not say a word to each other I miss that the most. Someone else to share in the other half of life.”

“Having someone to tell you about their day and to tell about your day. That companion, that person who is still there with you when the friends go home and the kids are in bed.”

“Weirdly his snoring.”

“The kids would say monster crawl and for me it’s just the moments of being close. To feel those arms wrapped around me and being able to rest my head on his chest to listen to his heartbeat and his smile.”

“The comfort of being in his arms… Coming home to him making dinner and without saying a word just hugging me… smelling his shampoo on his hair after his shower… getting into bed and feeling safe… kissing my forehead before he would leave for PT… going out shopping together… the list is never-ending… I miss him.”

“Coming home to him sleeping on his recliner with our daughter in his arms asleep as well. Yelling like crazy during every Spurs game. His smell. And his cooking, FYI he’s a Fireman’s son and my father-in-law taught him well.”

“When he wakes up in the morning, realizes I’m not anywhere near him and pulls me in and kisses my forehead. My absolute #1 favorite thing in the entire world.”

“Him. I miss him the most.”

“Her.”
